HUB and CCSA welcome you to join a Guest Expert Webinar led by Dr. Shea Wood, focusing on cannabis youth and harm reduction support for youth.
As a supportive adult, youth may come to you for information and guidance around cannabis and substance use. You do not have to be an expert or have all the answers, but you can develop knowledge and skills to offer support.
The goal of this session is to help you feel more prepared, comfortable and confident addressing topics related to cannabis and substance use. It will provide an overview of cannabis use trends and substance use health considerations and offer concrete strategies and tools to use when communicating with youth. The session will highlight young peoples’ lived experience alongside evidence-based resources that you can draw on to support young people’s substance use health and wellbeing.
Session objectives include:
– Increased understanding of youth cannabis use trends and health considerations
– Increased knowledge of strategies for engaging in supportive, non-judgmental conversations with youth about substance use (including cannabis) and related behaviours
– Increased confidence in the ability to address the topic of cannabis and access quality, evidence-based resources
The session will be 1 hour in duration and will conclude with a brief demonstration of the HUB Weed Out the Risk module, a program focused on reducing the harms from cannabis impaired driving.
